OCR Stages I, II AND III
Courses to prepare you for the OCR Stages I, II and III exams.
LEVEL 1
Text Production and or Word Processing Level I is suitable for those who wish to pass OCR examinations at this level. You will be using comprehensive training materials and past assessment papers will also be available for you to practise.
You should be able to know your way round a keyboard and be a reasonably user of a suitable word processing application such as Microsoft Word version 2000 or XP (or similar).
The course involves typing, word processing and printing a variety of business documents including, letters, reports and memoranda. It also includes learning abbreviations and presentation techniques, inserting Headers and Footers, moving and copying text, emphasising text and changing the line length.
At Level 1 you also have the option to gain the following qualifications Audio, Speed Keying, Legal Text Production, Business Presention (PowerPoint) and MailMerge.
LEVEL 2
Text Production and or Word Processing Level II suitable for those who wish to gain OCR examinations at this level. You will be using comprehensive training materials and past assessment papers will also be available for you to practise enabling you to gain confidence and competence to apply the skills required to gain this qualification. OCR Level 1 is desirable but not essential, depending on previous knowledge. The aim of the course is to assess your ability to produce a variety of routine and specialist business documents from handwritten and typewritten drafts, and recalled text. These will include: letters, reports, articles, and notices for display, tables, and chronological lists of alphabetical and numerical information, memorandums, and standard documents using recalled text from phrase files. The course also includes learning abbreviations and presentation techniques, changing the line length, making corrections, inserting Headers and Footers, moving and copying text, emphasising text, creating tables and sorting within tables, inserting standard phrases. The overall aim of the award is to meet the business document production requirements of the discerning employer and to give you the opportunity to demonstrate competence to the level demanded for NVQ Administration Level 2/OCR Level 2 Text Production.
At Level 2 you also have the option to gain the following qualifications Audio, Speed Keying, Document Presentation, Business Presention (PowerPoint), Medical Word Processing and MailMerge.
LEVEL 3
Text Production and or Word Processing Level III suitable for those who wish to gain OCR examinations at this level. You will be using comprehensive training materials and past assessment papers will be available for you to practise, enabling you to gain confidence and competence to apply the skills required to gain this qualification. For this course pre-requisites are necessary. A good level of English is essential and you must have recently passed OCR Stage II Word Processing and Text Processing examinations. You should also be a proficient user of Microsoft Word version 2000 or XP. The aim of the course is to assess your ability to produce a variety of complex and specialist business documents involving technical terminology from handwritten and typewritten drafts, and recalled text. These will include multi-page letters, multi-page reports, two-column articles, notices for display, tables and memorandums.
You will also be required to display work to conform to directions given concerning style of presentation: line spacing (i.e. single/double); emphasis (e.g. emboldening, underlining, capital, etc); insetting from the left-hand margin and centering over the typing line. Also Inserting Footnotes. Correcting unmarked spelling errors, errors of punctuation (including apostrophes) and errors of agreement. Copying part of a previously stored document to a specified location within a separate document. Paginating documents as instructed. Changing Fonts and/or Typeface. Creating tables with differing numbers of columns from information in a data sheet. Presenting information as shown in draft, or as instructed. Producing extra copies and indicating routing as instructed.
The overall aim of the award is to meet the business document production requirements of the discerning employer and to give you the opportunity to demonstrate competence to the level demanded for OCR Level 3 Text Production.
At Level 3 you also have the option to gain the following qualifications Audio, Speed Keying, Document Presentation.
Students can arrange with their tutor to gain necessary qualifications at Level 2 and Level 3 which will enable them to gain a Diploma at the specific levels.
